Sorry to say I've been doing the bare minimum of DA stuff. I've been meaning to upload stuff, but recently my bag was stolen with a forty hour sketch pad inside. So right now I'm working hard to replace what I've lost in the way of artwork. It may be a few days _{.......weeks......} before I upload anymore.



Wow, that's girly. Kinda cute though.

Anyhow I thought I'd do a quick light journal with some eye catching stuff to distract from all the comments I haven't answered and journals I haven't read yet.

Anyhow, the only people who are going to read this are more DA friends than actual watchers. I'm not active enough on DA to have active watchers anymore, but it's alright, I like the idea that there's a core group of people I can still share ideas and images with, and be supported, and support in turn.



Actually, I always liked the fact that I could get away with posting quite girly plz icons here. It's an indulgence. But it kind of stems in a way from the fact that when I draw women I like to put something in stylistically that both sexes can enjoy. I don't always manage that, btw. And also, a lot of my earlier work was dedicated to the worship of women rather than trying to show any actual understanding of them.

But I ended up watching manga that was sort of more girly than most of my male friends viewing choices, and I began thinking that sensitivity is actually a quality that both male and female artists should aspire to. In some way, shape or form. Hmm. I'm going to leave that one kind of vague, I think.

Hmm. Where was I?

Oh yeah. So I guess if you want to draw something that's going to please people of either sex manga and anime are a good place to start, but my style was never really suited to that. Neither am I entirely a fine artist, which would be the other discipline that immediately comes to mind where a man can be artistically sensitive, but I was trained as an illustrator and I guess that's what most suits my style, although I have wondered whether the way I draw women could denote a certain sexism. (I kind of think I'm more sexist against guys, since I enjoy drawing them a whole lot less...)

So I'll go on trying to refine it. I think the best things I've done have been appealing to people from both sexes, so that's the obvious threshold to shoot for.

Anyway, enough ruminations. Maybe tomorrow I'll do a proper journal.
